UVA Broad Spectrum Testing

This is an international standard in vitro test method used to determine a product’s ability to absorb light emissions in the UVA wavelength (320 to 400 nm) range. This method relies on the In Vivo SPF results for scaling the UV absorbance curve. These results are used to provide the UVA protection factor (UVAPF) and/or broad spectrum protection for the labelled SPF claim.

UVA Broad spectrum testing are performed to ensure compliance to ISO 24443 Determination of sunscreen UVA photoprotection in vitro as well as SANS1557SOUTH AFRICAN NATIONAL STANDARD – Sunscreen products in South Africa.
